Gary Kubiak issues statement after hospital visit

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was admitted to a hospital Sunday night with what were described as flu-like symptoms. Thankfully he was released from the hospital on Monday morning and was feeling better after being diagnosed with a “complex migraine,” John Elway told reporters, per The Denver Post.

On Monday evening, Kubiak released a statement addressing his situation, via Denver Broncos Vice President of Public Relations, Patrick Smyth.

To recover, he will be sitting out the upcoming Thursday night game when the Broncos take on the San Diego Chargers.

Stepping in for Kubiak this week is special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis.

“Joe has worked very closely with Gary in game-management situations as well as (director of football analytics) Mitch Tanney, so we thought that was the best and the easiest way to handle that situation,” Elway said. “Joe has a tremendous amount of experience, and obviously the coordinators will be involved with that too. We think he’ll do a tremendous job this week.”

Kubiak is expected to be back with the team next week after taking some time to rest.
