‘Fire Baalke’ banner to fly over 49ers’ next home game

Trent Baalke

Things have gone from bad to jump of the ledge horrible for the San Francisco 49ers. The team enters its Week 8 bye with a 1-6 record and in the midst of a six-game losing streak. During said losing streak, San Francisco is being outscored by an average of 19 points per game.

Surely, fans are disgusted. Fans are fed up. And in reality, they want someone to blame.

So it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that a specific group of 49ers diehards are taking their frustration out on general manager Trent Baalke.

“Now the Niner Faithful have a new target, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. A GoFundMe campaign to raise money to purchase a “Fire GM Trent Baalke” banner has been fully funded, 49erswebzone.com reported Wednesday. “It took less than a day to reach the $1,076 goal which covers the cost to have the banner fly over Levi’s Stadium prior to the 49ers’ game against the New Orleans Saints on November 6.”

Really, we shouldn’t be too upset over fans expressing their frustration. They had in the past flew banners over Levi’s Stadium that ripped CEO Jed York.

With San Francisco not even being able to remain competitive in Chip Kelly’s first season as head coach, there’s going to be growing calls for others to be shown the door.

Baalke’s reputation is one of a company man and someone that supported York over current Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh when the latter was feuding with York. Couple that with a dramatic regression in San Francisco’s drafting ability, and Baalke himself could very well be shown the door here soon.
