Buccaneers place Vincent Jackson on IR with torn ACL

Vincent Jackson

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will be without one of his favorite targets for the remainder of the season. The team placed Pro Bowler Vincent Jackson on injured reserve Tuesday, ending his 2015 season after just five games.

This likely also puts an end to Jackson’s career with the Buccaneers.

After earning a trip to the Pro Bowl his first season with Tampa Bay, Jackson has seen his production drop dramatically over the past four years. He finished the 2015 campaign with 543 yards and three scores while catching just over 50 percent of the passes thrown in his direction.

Jackson, 33, is set to become a free agent this upcoming March. Now having to rehab from a torn ACL, it seems reasonable to believe the Buccaneers will move on from the veteran.

The former San Diego Chargers second-round pick had his best season back in 2012, putting up nearly 1,400 receiving yards while leading the league in yards per reception.

In five games this season, the receiver put up just 15 catches and brought in less than 50 percent of the balls thrown in his direction.
