Bruce Arians jokes about tying one on following tie game

Bruce Arians is an old-school coach who never hesitates to cut right to the heart of the matter when discussing difficult circumstances. He’s also hilarious.

As you’re likely aware, the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks finished Sunday night’s snore-fest of a game in a 6-6 overtime tie.

Addressing the situation on Tuesday after having a day to cool off, Arians joked about it.

As related by Tom Pelissero of USA Today Sports: “Arians is known to have an occasional cocktail after a win. What do you do after a tie? ‘Have two.'”

Arians was furious after watching his team fail to put the Seahawks away. But his ire wasn’t directed at his players. Instead, he was in a rage at what he considered to be missed calls by the officials in the game on a field-goal attempt that would have proven to be the difference in the game.

The play in question involved Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner, who leaped over Arizona’s offensive line, touching the center. That’s illegal. The refs missed the call on the field, and the Cardinals lost a timeout because Arians threw the challenge flag on a play that could not be challenged.

With that in mind, those “two” cocktails might have been just his starters after the brutal contest that left both teams feeling empty inside.
