Report: Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict fined $75,000

Vontaze Burfict

The Cincinnati Bengals may have dodged a bullet on Wednesday. According to Pro Football Talk’s Zac Jackson, linebacker Vontaze Burfect hasn’t yet been suspended for stomping on New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount last Sunday.

Instead, Burfiect was fined $75,000 for the dirty play.

The play in question is about as ugly as it gets.

Burfict was also involved in a play in which he looked to have attempted to take out Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett’s knee. According to the aforementioned report, the $75,000 fine has nothing to do with that.

Remember, Burfict was suspended for the first three games of the season after this dirty hit he laid on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown during January’s playoffs.
