Vikings preparing for Adrian Peterson to miss some time

Adrian Peterson

After suffering a torn meniscus in his knee Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, it’s looking increasingly likely that Adrian Peterson will miss some time.

The Minnesota Vikings’ All Pro is currently compiling opinions from experts and doctors on the injury.

As he awaits for confirmation on what the next step should be, reports are now indicating that Peterson will miss this week’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

The time frame for returning from a meniscus tear ranges anywhere from a few days to several months. It really depends on the severity of the injury and whether Peterson will need surgery.

That it’s already being reported he’ll miss this week’s action can’t be seen as a good sign. At this point, it’s rather obvious the injury is more significant than the Vikings and Peterson had initially hoped.

With Peterson likely sidelined against a stout Panthers defense, Minnesota will be relying on Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata to hold down the fort at running back. That’s a less-than-ideal scenario for Sam Bradford and Co.
