Report: Raiders release four-time Pro Bowler Marcel Reece

With Marcel Reece set to come back from suspension, the Oakland Raiders made sure that wouldn’t happen.

The team reportedly released the stud fullback on Monday, a move that caught many people by surprise.

Reece, who has been among the best all-around players at his position over the years, was suspended late last December for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.

Apparently, the Raiders figured that they don’t need him on the field in order to contend this season. In reality, the team’s offense has performed well with Reece suspended. It currently ranks eighth in scoring at nearly 27 points per game.

Reece’s best statistical season came back in 2012 when he recorded nearly 800 total yards while putting up 52 receptions out of the backfield.

He’s earned a trip to the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons.
