Larry Fitzgerald’s father contradicts retirement report

Before the action began in Week 1, a report came out that Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald would be retiring at the end of the year.

Ian Rapoport reported people close to Fitzgerald as saying he expects to retire.

Well, one of the people close to the prodigious receiver, namely his father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr., made a point to respond directly to Rapoport.

So maybe Cardinals fans don’t have anything to worry about after all. Fitzgerald, 33, did just recently sign a one-year extension that keeps him with the Cardinals through 2017, after all.

It’s worth pointing out that Rapoport is just passing along information that he’s heard from his source. But this wouldn’t be the first time that a source didn’t know what was really going on behind the scenes.

In the case of Fitzgerald Sr., we’re going to assume he actually does know what is going on.
