Bruce Arians takes a dig at Jets’ QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Bruce Arians might be licking his chops as the Arizona Cardinals prepare for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. After all, Ryan Fitzpatrick had his way in the New York Jets’ recent victory over Buffalo. If he can get that hot, imagine what Carson Palmer can do.

But when Arians looks at that Jets vs. Bills film, he doesn’t see a hot quarterback. The Cards’ coach does see a lucky one.

This reads like football’s version of an ancient proverb.

While it’s a little cryptic, this sure sounds like Arians is taking a dig at Fitzpatrick. The New York signal caller completed 24-of-34 passes for 374 yards with a score and zero picks last Thursday against Buffalo.

That’s not a bad rate for someone throwing a lot of 50-50 balls. Still, throwing a ball up for grabs is not exactly a repeatable form of offense.

These comments will likely resurface again in Week 6, when New York travels to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. Then, Arians’ defense will get a chance to show Fitzpatrick what the normal rate on 50-50 balls is.
