Victor Cruz declares himself ready

For the first time in nearly two years, New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz will take to the football field.

Cruz, who has been sidelined since suffering a torn patella tendon in October of 2014, will make his preseason debut on Saturday against the New York Jets.

Showing confidence that’s he’s more than ready to make an impact after such a long absence, Cruz had this to say.

“I’m ready. Obviously it’s been a long time coming,” Cruz said Thursday. This one is crossing so many hurdles, so many barriers. To me, this game is bigger than just a game.”

While it looks like Cruz will get run with Eli Manning and the Giants first team, his quarterback won’t be forcing him the ball. Instead, it’s all about Cruz easing his way back into the action after such a long hiatus.

It should be interesting to see how this turns out Saturday in New Jersey.
