Tony Romo exits game with apparent back injury

In just his second action of the preseason, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has already been forced from a game due to a gruesome looking injury.

The veteran quarterback was hit to the ground by Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril in the first half of Thursday’s game.

Following the hit, Romo was seen in obvious pain on the turf. The injury itself appears to be to the signal caller’s lower back.

There’s no indication one way or another how serious the injury is, but this can’t be considered good news for the Cowboys.

Romo missed all but four games a season ago after suffering multiple collarbone injuries. He also has a history of injuries to the back area.

Should Romo be out an extended period of time, it would force rookie fourth-round pick Dak Prescott into action much earlier than the Cowboys would like.

We will obviously update this story as more information becomes available.
