Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson knows a thing or two about attempting to play baseball professionally.
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies, Wilson tried his hand in the minors.
He responded by posting a .229 average with a 36 percent strikeout rate in parts of two seasons.
Now a Super Bowl winning quarterback, Wilson himself has some advice for former NFL signal caller turned professional baseball hopeful Tim Tebow.
“Hope he can hit a curveball,” Wilson said, via MMQB.
That’s some solid advice right there. Considering Wilson’s high strikeout rate playing the lowest level of minor league ball, he might know a thing or two about struggling in that area.
As it relates to Tebow, he’s already received contract offers from multiple minor league teams. Heck, it appears a few big league squads are interested in watching him workout.
It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out. But let’s not assume that Tebow is going to struggle simply because Wilson did.
Some around the baseball world might be a tad upset over Tebow’s interest in taking to the diamond, but we have no idea just how good he is. Should it pan out, those critics will have to take a back seat.
One thing is for sure here. Tebow better hope he can hit the curve ball at a relatively high clip. If not, his baseball career will turn out much like his football career — dead in the water.
