Report: Brandon Browner cut by Seahawks

The reunion between the Seattle Seahawks and defensive back Brandon Browner has come to an abrupt ending.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport was the first to break the news of Browner’s release, which was later confirmed by the team.

The Seahawks’ attempt to have Browner transition from a corner to a safety apparently did not work out.

Browner played with the Seahawks from 2011 through 2013. During the course of 36 games, Browner recorded 10 interceptions, two touchdowns and 117 combined tackles. He also served a suspension late in 2012 for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and missed playing in the Super Bowl in 2013.

In 2014, the New England Patriots took a flyer on Browner, but released him after one underwhelming campaign. He played for the New Orleans Saints in 2015, during which time he was one of the worst corners in the league, before reuniting with the Seahawks during free agency.

Unfortunately, it would appear that the defensive back’s career has reached the end of the road.

With all of the teams currently trimming down their rosters, it will be a bit surprising to see if anybody reaches out to Browner in the next couple of weeks.
