Reggie Ragland injury has Rex Ryan ‘very concerned’

Buffalo Bills rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland injured his knee on Friday, and though it remains to be seen how serious the injury is, Rex Ryan is concerned.

Or make it, “very concerned,” as related by WKBW’s Joe Buscaglia, though he did mention the injury does not appear to include any ligaments.

Still, torn ligaments are not the only dangerous injuries for football players. Ryan mentioned the scary aspect of this injury is that Ragland suffered it without contact, which is always concerning.

Ryan said Ragland’s injury “looked odd,” because he was not hit and added “sometimes those can be the worse ones,” via ESPN’s Mike Rodak.

The rookie linebacker out of Alabama was gunning for a prominent role in Ryan’s 3-4 defense before today’s setback.

If he does have to miss extensive time, then Ragland would be the second rookie to miss time. First-round pick Shaq Lawson is slated to miss significant time recovering from a shoulder injury (more on that here).

After last year’s abysmal defensive performance by the Bills, these early injuries could have a detrimental impact on the team’s ability to improve. Hopefully in Ragland’s case, the injury just looked worse than it actually is.
