Emmanuel Sanders compares Trevor Siemian to Aaron Rodgers

Trevor Siemian Broncos

It’s always nice to have confidence in your starting quarterback. That’s taken to a whole new level when you’re tasked with catching passes from him.

There’s also something a bit absurd about comparing a quarterback with zero regular season experience to a former MVP.

That’s exactly what Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders did Monday by liking Trevor Siemian to Green Bay Packers signal caller Aaron Rodgers.

Siemian, an un-drafted free agent from Northwestern last season, has yet to attempt a single regular season pass in the NFL. He’s also going to be tasked with starting for the defending champions this season.

Meanwhile, Rodgers has earned five Pro Bowl appearances, two NFL MVP awards and a Super Bowl title.

Before we attack Sanders too much for these comments, let’s applaud him for having confidence in his young quarterback. It surely is a good sign that a veteran member of the team believes his quarterback is even-keeled.

Outside of that, the comparison should end there. It’s really not fair to either quarterback.

Siemian isn’t going to perform at Rodgers’ level this season, and the Packers quarterback has proven himself to be more capable than a player that’s yet to throw a regular season pass in the NFL.
