Chiefs reportedly place Aaron Murray on trade block

With just over a week remaining until the official start of the season, multiple teams are still looking to settle their quarterback situations.

It’s in this that quarterbacks we might otherwise consider afterthoughts become valuable trade chips.

The Kansas City Chiefs are banking on this desperation leading to an offer for backup quarterback Aaron Murray.

Murray, a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2014, has yet to throw a single regular season pass in the NFL. He’s also stuck behind Alex Smith, Nick Foles and Kevin Hogan on the team’s depth chart.

Short of being able to find a trade partner for Murray, the former Georgia standout will likely be released.

And while teams like the Dallas Cowboys have a need for a backup quarterback, they are primarily looking at experienced arms. Murray isn’t that.

It will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out between now and the start of the regular year.
