Carmelo Anthony comments on Team USA players’ brothel visit

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony wants Team USA to move on after some players stumbled upon a high-end brothel in Rio, which was supposedly an accident.

TMZ first reported the incident, noting the players were not given forthright information about the brothel and that they didn’t do anything other than have some drinks.

Whatever you believe about the incident, team leader Carmelo Anthony, playing in his fourth Olympic Games, wants everyone to take responsibility and move on.

“What’s done is done. We have time off and guys did what they did. We accept those responsibilities and move on,” said Anthony, per NBC New York.

Anthony’s comment leaves one with an ambivalent feeling about what happened, does it not? It almost sounds like he’s not exactly buying the “accident” aspect of the trip.

Regardless of what actually happened or what the intent of the players was, the brothel is legal in Rio and the visit certainly didn’t hinder the team from pounding China, 119-62 on Saturday.

At this point, it seems like the team will be ready to “move on” to the medal rounds after making minced meat out of the competition during the exhibition games leading up to the 2016 Olympics and laying the smack down in their first official game.
