Giants’ Bruce Bochy admitted to hospital for overnight stay

The San Francisco Giants and manager Bruce Bochy were dealt a health scare on Monday. Bochy was admitted to a hospital and will stay there overnight. As such, he will miss the team’s series opener on the road against the Miami Marlins.

There was no immediate word on what is ailing the manager.

From an outside perspective, there is plenty of good news here. If Bochy is indeed expected back on Tuesday, then it’s likely not a serious ailment.

Still, an overnight visit to the hospital is always something that must be taken seriously — especially for a man in his 60’s.

The Giants have had a rough start to the second half of the season. Despite that, the club remains in first place in the National League West at 63-48, a game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wotus has been with the Giants’ major league team since 1998. In 1999, he became the bench coach, a position he has not relinquished in the subsequent years.
