Awful news has emerged from the college football world. Nebraska punter Sam Foltz and former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler were killed in a car accident on Saturday night.

Foltz’s death was confirmed by Brian Cristopherson of the Lincoln Star Journal. Sadler’s was confirmed by Westwood One’s Kevin Kugler.

Foltz was heading into his senior year with the Cornhuskers. He was named the Big Ten Punter of the Year last season and was on the Ray Guy Watch List for the upcoming campaign. Kenny Wilhite, Nebraska’s Director of High School Relations, paid tribute to Foltz on Twitter.

Sadler last kicked for the Spartans in 2014. According to his Michigan State bio, he was “the first Spartan in school history to earn Academic All-America honors four times.” He took part in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers minicamp in 2015 and had recently enrolled in Stanford Law School.

Ross Dellenger of The Advocate also reported that LSU kicker Colby Delahoussaye was involved in the accident. While Dellenger reported that “details on Delahoussaye’s injuries were not known,” he also said “Delahoussaye is no longer at the Waukesha Memorial Hospital, according to an operator at the hospital.”
