Report: Ravens WR Mike Wallace failed physical

Mike Wallace isn’t getting off to a great start with his new team, as the Baltimore Ravens receiver reportedly failed his physical on Wednesday.

It’s too early to get overly excited about something like this, but usually this is the kind of news reserved for the Albert Haynesworths of the world, not a speedy receiver like Wallace.

This also isn’t a great look for a player trying to re-brand his image after a couple of failed tenures in Miami and Minnesota.

Ever since the Pittsburgh Steelers opted to let him go in free agency, rather than pay him back in 2013, he’s failed to live up to his own hype. He held out of camp in 2012 with Pittsburgh hoping for a better deal, but he never got one. Instead, the franchise paid Antonio Brown, which turned out to be the smart move.

He then spent a couple of seasons with the Miami Dolphins, catching 15 touchdowns, but was ultimately traded under a dark cloud in 2015 for a seventh-round pick, while the Minnesota Vikings shipped a fifth-round pick to Miami — not the kind of value you’d expect from a productive receiver.

Wallace failed to make an impact in Minnesota last year, posting the worst numbers of his professional career.

And now this.

It’s not looking great for the speedster, who needs to get himself into shape quickly if he has any hope of resurrecting his once promising career.
