Report: Odell Beckham Jr. carted off practice field with leg injury

Odell Beckham Jr. is one of many NFL players who has a lot to prove in a contract year

Just as the New York Giants got Victor Cruz back from the multitude of injuries he’s suffered over the past 18 months, it appears the team might have suffered another setback.

According to NFL.com, star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. injured his leg during training camp practice on Sunday.

The third-year pass catcher was seen on the turf for a while before making his way back to the sideline, at which point he was grabbing his ankle area. After attempting to “jog it off,” Beckham Jr. was reportedly carted back to the team’s facility.

Whenever you see a player walk gingerly after suffering a leg injury, you have to take note. Once he’s forced on to a cart, concerns of it being a serious injury are heightened.

Some good news here. Giants head coach Ben McAdoo indicated after the conclusion of practice that the injury itself might be minor.

Of course, that could be the team playing the PR game while it waits for more information on the severity of the injury.

Beckham Jr., 23, has put up 187 receptions for 2,755 yards and 25 touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Giants, earning a Pro Bowl appearance each year.

Needless to say, any sort of serious injury here would set the team back a great deal heading into the preseason.
