Report: Kings will not re-sign Rajon Rondo

The Sacramento Kings are apparently fine heading into next season with Darren Collison as the team’s starting point guard.

NBA.com’s David Aldridge is reporting that Sacramento has no intention of re-signing Rajon Rondo in free agency.

This is interesting for a couple different reasons.

First off, Collison is facing multiple domestic violence charges stemming from an incident earlier this year in which he allegedly spit on his wife.

To rely on someone going through this serious off-court situation is pretty surprising.

Not only that, it paints the Kings organization in a bad light during a time when domestic violence situations around the sports world have led to widespread debate about how teams should handle those players involved in said altercations.

For his part, Rondo should find a multi-year deal on what has increasingly become an inflated free-agent market under the new salary cap.

The enigmatic point guard averaged 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and a league leading 11.7 assists in what was a solid performance for the Kings last season.
