Donald Trump claimed the NFL sent him a letter complaining that a presidential debate would be going up against two games, but the league flat-out denies that ever happened.
Trump attacked this issue on two fronts before the NFL responded Saturday.
He tweeted out this complaint Friday night:
As usual, Hillary & the Dems are trying to rig the debates so 2 are up against major NFL games. Same as last time w/ Bernie. Unacceptable!

He also addressed the scheduling conflict in an ABC interview, set to air Sunday.
“I’ll tell you what I don’t like. It’s against two NFL games. I got a letter from the NFL saying, ‘this is ridiculous,'” he said.
When asked about whether or not the NFL had sent Trump this alleged letter, NFL PR man Brian McCarthy made it clear that Trump must be having trouble remembering what actually happene3d.
@alexweprin While we'd obviously wish the Debate Commission could find another night, we did not send a letter to Mr Trump.

Of course, this is hardly the first time the Republican presidential nominee has, ahem, forgotten exactly how things transpired. But we digress.
The NFL likely won’t suffer too bad from the scheduling conflict, we’re guessing. The NFL is king in this nation, and all other sports — presidential debates included — cannot hope to compete with it when it comes to television ratings.
