Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside will officially sign his four-year max deal with the team sometime on Thursday. Unless he doesn’t.
Immediately following the mind-blowing news that Dwyane Wade has left the Heat after 13 seasons with the team, Whiteside sent this rather cryptic tweet out to his followers.

That photo? It’s pretty much an Internet version of “life comes at you fast.”
Of course, Whiteside can’t necessarily be too happy with Wade’s decision to leave Miami for the Chicago Bulls. That definitely puts him in somewhat of an awkward situation as he prepares to sign his long-term deal.
Then again, there is a scenario in play here that could suggest Whiteside might end up changing course before signing said deal.
We saw this same situation play out with DeAndre Jordan and the Dallas Mavericks last summer. Jordan had agreed in principle to a deal that would have brought him to Texas. He later backed out, only to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The free-agent moratorium ends Thursday morning, at which point Whiteside himself has a decision to make.
