Former NFL coach Dennis Green passes away

Some really sad news to report from the NFL world. According to multiple media reports, former head coach Dennis Green has passed away at the age of 67 after suffering cardiac arrest.

Green is best known for his time as the Minnesota Vikings head coach from 1992-2001, when he led the team to eight playoff appearances, including two trips to the NFC Championship game.

He also coached the Arizona Cardinals for three seasons (2004-06). Green is one of the long list of individuals attributed to the Bill Walsh coaching tree. He’s also seen a ton of his former assistants become head coaches, including Super Bowl winners Brian Billick and Tony Dungy.

Prior to entering the NFL ranks as a head coach, Green served in the same capacity for Northwestern (1981-85) and Stanford (1989-91).

Green is survived by his wife Marie and two children, Vanessa and Zachary.
