Blazers re-sign Meyers Leonard to four-year, $41 million deal

The Portland Trail Blazers have re-signed restricted free agent Meyers Leonard to a four-year, $41 million deal.

Leonard, a lottery pick of Portland back in 2012, averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 61 games (10 starts) a season ago.

Despite possessing natural skill on both ends of the court, the big man has been injury plagued throughout the majority of his career.

He’s played no more than 69 games in any of the four seasons he’s been in the NBA. In fact, Leonard has missed 31 percent of the team’s games during this span.

After signing Festus Ezeli to a two-year deal last week and with Mason Plumlee as well as youngster Noah Vonleh on the roster, it remains to be seen exactly how Leonard fits in moving forward.

Though, retaining the talented big at just over $10 million per on today’s market is most definitely not a bad thing for the up-and-coming Blazers.
