Report: Hawks interested in Kevin Durant and Dwight Howard

After moving starting point guard Jeff Teague in a trade prior to the draft earlier this month, it appears that the Atlanta Hawks are in the process of revamping their roster.

In addition to former All-Star Al Horford hitting free agency later this week, the team is looking into a couple different options on the open market.

It’s safe to say that every single team in the Association would be interested in Kevin Durant. Though, it appears that his list of viable suitors can be counted on less than two hands. As it is, the Hawks have at least an aspiration to sign the former MVP.

More likely for the Hawks is a player in Dwight Howard who could act as a solid replacement for Horford should he depart in free agency.

Howard is not the offensive player Horford is, but his presence in the low post on defense could help the Hawks alleviate the potential loss of Horford from a scoring perspective.

Despite having a down season by his standards, Howard still found a way to average 13.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. He’s seeking a max deal on the open market.

By moving Teague and not taking back a contract in return, Atlanta put itself in position to add a max player. Whether that will be either Durant or Howard is really anyone’s guess.
