President Barack Obama has ‘discussed’ owning NBA team

As his tenure as the 43rd President of the United States of America nears its end, Barack Obama is setting his eyes on another big challenge.

Speaking Wednesday to the press, White House press secretary Josh Earnest revealed Obama wouldn’t mind becoming an NBA owner, via ESPN News Services.

“Earnest said Wednesday that the president, well known for being a big fan of Chicago sports teams, has ‘discussed’ being part of an ownership group for an NBA franchise. Earnest added that Obama would pursue the opportunity ‘potentially … under the right circumstances.'”

President Obama is known for his love of basketball. He is a die-hard Chicago Bulls fan and his NCAA Tournament bracket selections have made huge news every year in office.

As mentioned in the report, Obama has also expressed previous interest in owning an NBA team, telling GQ Magazine last November that he would “absolutely” be interested in becoming a part owner as part of a larger group.

Still relatively young, at the age of 54, President Obama is likely going to be quite active in the public eye when he leaves office next year. He’ll have no shortage of opportunities to make a big splash in many different arenas. Perhaps one of them will include being a regular at an NBA arena sometime in the near future.
