With Jeremy Affeldt retired, Major League Baseball needs a new king of strange injuries. Baltimore Orioles reliever Brian Duensing has thrown his hat into the ring, injuring himself in rather unique fashion.

Connolly also added that Duensing will be out for 4-8 weeks. This is certainly a peculiar way for a player to get injured. Roch Kubato added that the injury likely stemmed from Tommy John Surgery in 2004, which makes more sense.

Duensing had struggled in limited time prior to the injury. The lefty had thrown only 6.2 innings for the Orioles in 2016. In that time, he amassed a 5.40 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and struck out three hitters.
