Jaguars running academy for prospects in Europe

The Jacksonville Jaguars fully understand that they have an opportunity to expand their market to across the pond. That’s been made possible by the team being selected to play an annual game in London.

Owner Shahid Khan has made no bones about it. He plans on doing what he can to corner this market for his team. Heck, rumors had even persisted in the past that the Jaguars may look to relocate to Europe.

While that seems incredibly far-fetched right now, the Jaguars are definitely doing what they can to draw more interest in London and the surrounding areas.

In this, the team has set up an academy for amateur players in Europe slated to take place from July 14-16.

Per the team’s press release.

“If you want to perfect your playing skills with instruction from the best, then sign up here for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ three-day Jaguars Academy – a training weekend offering amateur players in the UK and Europe aged between 19-25 the chance to train like NFL professionals. The three-day course will be hosted at Loughborough University UK from July 14-16. Current Jaguars coaching staff will come over from the USA to lead the sessions which will cover a range of different positions both offensively and defensively.”

The three-day event is limited to just 200 participants and will cost the equivalent of $367 U.S. dollars.

In addition to the Jaguars’ current coaching staff taking part in the event, former players will be on hand to teach the nuances of the NFL game.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that any of the 200 participants will magically find themselves signed off the street. Instead, it’s all about the Jaguars organization taking a hands-on approach in a market that houses them for at least one game per season.
