Austin Seferian-Jenkins walks off practice field, tweets ‘moving on’

Austin Seferian-Jenkins

There’s a little bit of drama taking place during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers OTAs on Thursday.

Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, a second-round pick of the team back in the 2014 NFL Draft, sent out a pretty cryptic tweet at a time when he was supposed to be on the practice field with the team.

This led some to speculate that Seferian-Jenkins had been released by the Buccaneers.

While we have no idea at this point what actually went down, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reported that the tight end walked off the field in the middle of practice.

For his part, Seferian-Jenkins followed that up with a more specific tweet while still remaining a bit standoffish about what exactly unfolded.

We should hear more about this story as it develops.

In two seasons with Tampa Bay, the former Washington standout has failed to live up to his status as an early-round pick.

Due in large part to injuries and ineffectiveness, he’s recorded 42 receptions for 559 yards and six scores while missing half the team’s games during that span.
