Florida county names day after Mackensie Alexander

Former Clemson cornerback Mackensie Alexander knew he made it big when the Minnesota Vikings selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Now, he has made it even bigger after the County of Collier in Florida declared June 28 “Mackensie Alexander” day.

This is quite the recognition for a guy who has yet to play in his first NFL game. Nevertheless, it is a major honor considering Collier County houses approximately 330,000 citizens.

Alexander spent two seasons at Clemson and recorded a combined total of 44 tackles. He was originally projected as a potential first-round draft pick, but fell to the Vikings at No. 54 overall.

Alexander is currently slated to compete with Captain Munnerlyn for the nickel back slot to bolster a Vikings defense that managed only 19 combined takeaways last season.
