Vladimir Putin stars in Sochi amateur hockey event

Russian President Vladimir Putin is awfully fond of proving he’s a better athlete than the rest of us. Playing in an amateur hockey event in Sochi, site of the 2014 Winter Olympics, Putin put on a show for his adoring fans in Russia.

Scoring a goal and contributing with assists on two others, Putin, wearing the No. 11, was one of the best players on the ice for the “Night Hockey League festival game,” per Reuters based on a report released by the Kremlin.

He and other amateur businessmen, along with former players, were on the winning side (9-5) of the annual contest.

“The 63-year-old sports fan was seen fist-bumping team mates, waving to the crowd and firing shots at the opposition goalie. He was then handed a large trophy by former Soviet Union player Alexander Yakushev.”

This isn’t the first time Putin has hit the ice for a friendly cause. Though, he’s been known to dominate even more in the past. In an event back in 2014, before the Olympics, Vladimir Putin scored six goals and dished five assists in a 21-4 rout.

Up next for the fearless leader?

Who knows, but it likely involves some feat of strength or manliness that will make his adoring fans in Russia love him even more than they already do.
