Steve Kerr: Stephen Curry not playing in Game 2

Nelson Chenault, USA Today Sports

Steve Kerr likes to have fun with the media, and he invoked his inner Gregg Popovich once again talking about Stephen Curry, who will not play in Game 2, per Rusty Simmons of of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Kerr better be careful to monitor his “weirdness factor,” or he’ll shift from Popovichian levels of snark to the plane of Jim Harbaugh, who was a Bay Area legend for tweaking the local media.

It was already pretty much understood that Curry wouldn’t be available until Saturday.

However, the Golden State Warriors are listing him as “doubtful” to play, and there hasn’t been a definitive answer to the question of “Will Stephen Curry play in Game 2.”

No. No, he won’t.

And quite honestly, the Warriors shouldn’t need him to play Tuesday in Game 2 against the recently bludgeoned Los Angeles Clippers, who simply have no business being on the same court as Kerr’s Curry-less Dubs.

Thanks to Klay Thompson’s aggressive shooting approach, Draymond Green’s ability to do it all and a balanced effort all around, the Warriors handily won Game 1 118-106, and the outcome was never in doubt.

Even if Curry could play Tuesday he shouldn’t. Rest up that knee for another few days before testing out to see if a return Saturday is what the doctor ordered. Regardless of his availability, it’s hard to imagine this series will last much longer than five games.
