Former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula has reportedly been hospitalized after experiencing difficulties breathing, per 7News in Miami.

He was “rushed” to Aventura hospital Monday night after a bad episode of sleep apnea, though he was described afterwards as “alert and in good spirits,” per 7News.

A family spokesman relayed this message: “Coach has been entertaining staff with jokes, and we expect him to be home very soon.”

Thankfully it appears Shula, at the age of 86, will be back on his feet in no time.

A legend in football circles, Shula was involved competitively in the NFL from 1951 when he was a ninth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns until 1995 when he retired after coaching the Dolphins for 26 years.

A two-time Super Bowl-winning coach, he was also the leader of the famous 1972 team that went undefeated all the way through to a championship — a record that stands to this day.
