Photo: Check out Cam Newton’s 24 karat gold 1970 Oldsmobile

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is known for his wild and sometimes unusual flare when it comes to fashion.

Thus, he has carried his passion for the unusual to his automobile. TMZ Sports reports Newton had his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass plated with 24 karat gold. The custom work was performed by Monster Customs in Marietta, Georgia.

Per the report, Monster Customs owner Terry Dobbs described some of the details of the overhaul on the Oldsmobile.

“We redid the entire car. Fixed the motor. Alcantara leather on the inside with gold stitching in a diamond pattern, new carpet, bigger wheels, new sound system.”

The ultimate touch is the 24 karat gold panther head with Newton’s initials and jersey number “C1N” on the grill of the car.

According to TMZ Sports, the remodel of the car cost approximately $45,000.

Whether Newton will actually cruise North Carolina in his car or keep his treasure merely for show is not known. Although it is reported that an air-ride system was installed to level out the car to accommodate some of Newton’s larger passengers.

We can only imagine the oohing and awing from spectators should this gold masterpiece hit the streets.

As an aside, Newton’s Oldsmobile classic is 19 years older than he is.
