Tyrod Taylor’s agent throws Bills’ defense under the bus

Tyrod Taylor

Sports agents should learn to know when to talk and when to shut up. At some point, they are simply doing their clients a disservice.

This couldn’t be any more the case as it relates to the agent for Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who lobbed some pretty ridiculous shots in the direction of Taylor’s teammates and coaching staff.

Adisa P. Bakari of The Sports Entertainment Group had this to say to SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday:

“The Bills didn’t go the playoffs last year because of discipline and the defense. Tyrod Taylor was exceptional.”

Statistically speaking, Taylor was exceptional during his first season as a starter in the NFL — also his first season with the Bills.

He completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 3,035 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and six picks. The former Virginia Tech standout also added 568 rushing yards and four scores on the ground in 14 starts.

Meanwhile, Buffalo’s defense finished in the middle of the pack. The team as a whole also finished with the most penalty yards in the entire NFL.

Even if Taylor wasn’t one of the reasons Buffalo missed out on the playoffs for a 16th consecutive season, there’s absolutely no reason his agent should be publicly calling out other members of the organization.

For Taylor and his agent, the premise is rather simple. The former sixth-round pick is set to earn just $2.1 million in 2016, the second year of a three-year deal he signed with the team last offseason.

Needless to say, the two are looking for some sort of raise after Taylor put up a Pro Bowl campaign in 2015.

Calling out the Bills organization really isn’t going to help them earn what they believe Taylor is worth. It doesn’t make good business sense.
