A year after losing out to Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer for the top award, Golden State Warriors head man Steve Kerr has nabbed the NBA’s Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering Golden State finished the regular season with the best mark (73-9) in the history of the association, besting the 72-win 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, a team Kerr suited up for.
Kerr did miss the first 43 games of the season after undergoing back surgery last summer. Assistant coach Luke Walton posted a 39-4 record in his stead with Kerr closing out the season with a 34-5 record.
Though, all the wins and losses are on Kerr’s coaching record. Interestingly enough, Walton also found himself on the ballot for the award.
Kerr received 54 first-place votes. Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts finished second with 37 while San Antonio Spurs’ Gregg Popovich rounded out the top three.
Through two seasons with the Warriors, Kerr has posted a 140-24 regular season record for a ridiculous .854 winning percentage.
