John Kasich: Day after Super Bowl should be a holiday

Republican presidential candidate and current Ohio Governor John Kasich is a smart man. He knows exactly who to target for votes and how to go about doing that.

Appearing on Dan Patrick’s radio show this past week, Kasich indicated that he believes the day after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday:

“It should be. There’s no productivity whatsoever. I think it should be,” the governor said. “I’m going to take that under consideration. Maybe I can get that done in the first 100 days.”

Oh boy, he’s going to make it part of his 100-day push should he become president. We really have to wonder how many votes the underdog presidential candidate earned with this comment.

It’s an interesting take, and he’s not 100 percent wrong here. The sheer volume of hangovers from alcohol consumption the day after the Super Bowl does cause a lack of productivity. This one scribe has been in that boat more than he’d like to admit.

Unlikely to earn the Republican nomination for presidency this summer, Kasich definitely earned some brownie points with his constituents back in Ohio.
