Free agent NFL WR Preston Parker facing drug, gun charges

Free agent NFL wide receiver Preston Parker is potentially in a lot of trouble with the law. The multitude of charges were detailed by Jorge Milian of the Palm Beach Post on Friday.

“Parker is facing charges of cocaine possession, using or displaying a firearm during a felony and destroying evidence. He was released Friday afternoon from the Palm Beach County Jail on $15,000 bond.”

This is not Parker’s first brush with the law. In 2008, he was arrested for “carrying a concealed .45-caliber pistol and a small amount of marijuana” and in 2009, was arrested and charged with a DUI. Both incidents came while Parker was at Florida State.

Eventually, Parker was kicked off of the Florida State team.

Parker signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2010, staying with the team from 2010-12.

After failing to make the New Orleans Saints roster out of training camp in 2013, Parker signed with the New York Giants in 2014 and remained there until early in the 2015 season before he was released.

In 45 career games, Parker has 85 receptions for 1,057 yards and five touchdowns. Needless to say, it looks like his NFL career is all but over.
