Colts draft Ryan Kelly to bolster offensive line

Ryan Grigson earned a slow clap for his decision as general manager of the Indianapolis Colts to draft center Ryan Kelly out of Alabama with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

After making so many questionable moves in early rounds during recent drafts, the move to select Kelly is unquestionably sound.

Kelly is a people mover in the run game and a solid pass protector. He was the leader of the stellar offensive line at Alabama last year — the same one that helped Derrick Henry win the Heisman Trophy.

He’s going to step into Indianapolis’ lineup as an instant starter at the center position. It’s a position of need, and some might say the Colts reached for him here. That said, Kelly has All-Pro potential and should be a huge upgrade for the Colts in both the run and pass games.

Andrew Luck is going to love this guy.
