2016 NFL Draft ends on a confusing note

After three days and 253 picks, the 2016 NFL Draft has come to an end. But that was not before a bit of last-minute confusion took place.

The final selection in the draft was made by the Tennessee Titans when they picked Southern Mississippis’s cornerback Kalan Reed, aka, this year’s “Mr. Irrelevant.”

Originally, the Denver Broncos were to have had the last pick in the draft. Therefore the team had this special, orange jersey created for the last official draft pick. Anyone glancing up at their television set at this moment spying an orange jersey accompanied by a Titans’ helmet probably had to do a double take.

The confusion took place because the Broncos made a late trade with the Titans during the fifth round of the draft. Obviously, the Titans didn’t have a jersey on hand, so the NFL had no other choice than to present the orange jersey.

Hopefully Reed realizes he is a Titan and not member of this year’s Super Bowl champion team.

Reed’s upcoming trip to Balboa Island in southern California’s Orange County beach community should make up for the pandemonium. A tradition since 1976, the NFL chooses to award the last draftee in each year’s draft (Mr. Irrelevant) with a vacation.

While Reed can look forward to a sweet vacation before mini camp gets underway, the Titans should be happy with their final draft pick.
