Von Miller spotlighted in Sports Illustrated front cover

Von MIller COVID-19

Earning the cover for this week’s Sports Illustrated edition was the Super Bowl MVP, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller.

Also featured is Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who is in the process of falling, after Miller forced a fumble.

The captioning on the cover reads

“Broncos Cheer. The scary-good Denver D dabsmacks the Panthers.”

Then in small print in parentheses is a hint that Peyton Manning may have played his final game.

“And finds the perfect way to –maybe– send Peyton Manning out in style.”

In all, Miller had two forced fumbles on Newton. Quite busy leaving his destruction of Carolina’s offense behind, Miller also had 2.5 sacks and was responsible for five solo tackles.

Miller’s production in Super Bowl 50 nearly mirrored what he accomplished in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots. He produced four tackles and sacked Tom Brady 2.5 times.

After a successful 2015 campaign, Miller posted a total of 30 solo tackles, 11 sacks and three fumble recoveries. He also earned his second All-Pro status.

Entering the sixth year of his career, the Denver Broncos are contemplating using a franchise tag to retain Miller through 2016. Though after 2016, Miller will be rightfully entitled to negotiate what should be quite the monster of a new agreement.
