Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry will be the special #KeepPounding drummer for the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, the team announced on Twitter hours before the big game.

This shouldn’t be a huge surprise to anyone who has followed the ever-growing relationship between Cam Newton and Curry.

In fact, Curry sent out a tremendous show of support to Newton and the Panthers after his Warriors triumphed over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night:

“Congratulations on all the success so far but the job isn’t done. Enjoy the experience of playing in the Super Bowl. Having played in NBA championships, it’s an unforgettable experience and something that you want to be able to enjoy and embrace,” Curry said in an interview with Bleacher Report. “But just be yourself, the same Cam, the same Panthers that got you to that point and get it done. Keep pounding, i’m rooting for you.”

If the Panthers can pull off the victory on Sunday night over Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, then Curry will have seen a prophecy come true. Last week he predicted “a win and a win” for the Warriors and the Panthers on Super Bowl weekend.

Hopefully Curry is a good luck charm for Carolina, which needs to stay hot Sunday night to win Super Bowl 50.

His Warriors are now 46-4 after taking down OKC Saturday night. Thankfully for him and the Panthers the timing of the big game works out perfectly for Curry to participate in the Super Bowl.
