Jazz GM was so focused on trade deadline he didn’t see fallen tree on house

NBA

The NBA trade deadline is a stressful time in front offices, so it’s hard to blame Utah general manager Dennis Lindsey for his complete ignorance of a somewhat-pressing situation elsewhere.

His wife Becky posted a picture on Twitter showing a not-particularly-small tree that had fallen on the family’s house.

In fairness, the orientation of the Lindsey’s driveway suggests Dennis had no reason to look that direction. He was probably too focused on reaching Jazz headquarters and discussing trades anyway.

Dennis later responded to the news via Austin Horton of 1280 The Zone.

“I’m a victim of friendly fire. Nice when your pillar of support throws you under bus [and] makes you Twitter fodder.”

At least Dennis had a marginally successful day at the office, acquiring Shelvin Mack in exchange for a 2018 second-round pick.

Utah coach Quin Snyder was an assistant for the Atlanta Hawks for the 2013-14 season, during which Mack played a career-best 73 games and 1,490 minutes. The point guard also was a college teammate of Gordon Hayward, the leading scorer for the Jazz.

Still, it’s humorous that Dennis missed something that otherwise likely would’ve been a massively disappointing start to a morning.

We hope Shelvin Mack was worth the tunnel vision.
