Report: Andy Dalton not likely to be ready for Wild Card round

Andy Dalton is doing everything he can to get healthy as soon as possible for the Cincinnati Bengals. However, if they don’t get a first-round bye it’s likely going to be up to AJ McCarron to win a playoff game and keep the Super Bowl dream alive.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dalton is “still a few weeks” away from playing and is reportedly out for Week 17 already. Making matters worse, it appears this could be a problem that continues to linger even deeper into the playoffs.

Of course, Dalton detractors might consider this good news for the Bengals. Despite his career-best season, there is no denying this team has never won a playoff game with the Red Rifle under center.

Meanwhile, McCarron has done nothing but impress so far in his early career. He led the team to an easy win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15 and guided the offense to a touchdown right out of the gates on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos in Week 16.

Could there be a quarterback controversy brewing in Cincinnati?
