Mic’d up J.J. Watt tried to help Saints offensive line

J.J. Watt

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt was mic’d up for sound when he recorded five tackles and two sacks in the team’s 24-6 beatdown of the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

One of his best comments doubled as advice for the Saints coaches.

“You guys might want to try somebody else at right tackle,” Watt said, per NFL Media’s Kevin Patra. “Quarterback’s getting smoked back there. I like Drew [Brees]. I don’t like hitting him like that.”

The Saints attempted to take Watt’s advice, but the switch didn’t work.

At one point in the game, New Orleans moved left tackle Terron Armstead to the right side. Unfortunately for the Saints and Brees, Watt still managed to get to the quarterback.

“You asked for it, you got it,” Watt said to Armstead.

The audio first aired on Inside the NFL on Tuesday night.

We wish Watt, who is on pace to record nearly 20 sacks this season and a true fan favorite, would be mic’d up every game.

Next up in his path of destruction are the Buffalo Bills, and we’ll see if their offensive line does a better job of blocking Watt and protecting Tyrod Taylor than the Saints did for Brees.
