DeAngelo Hall enters NFL record books with fumble recovery for touchdown

DeAngelo Hall

Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall made history on Saturday night.

During the heated NFC East rivalry game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Hall scooped up a DeMarco Murray fumble and took it in for six points.

With the touchdown on a fumble recovery, the 12-year veteran became the first player in NFL history to score five touchdowns on interceptions and five on fumble recoveries, according to Master Tesfatsion of the Washington Post.

The score put Washington up by the score of 30-17 near the end of the third quarter in a pivotal contest that will have a big impact on the postseason plans for both clubs.

Should Washington hold on to win, the NFC East is theirs. If Philly comes back to win, then they have control of their own destiny and could win the division in Week 17 against the New York Giants.

For Hall, the individual accomplishment is a nice cherry on top of a successful NFL career in which he’s been voted to the Pro Bowl three times and has made it to the playoffs twice before this season.
