WATCH: Texans throw double-pass touchdown vs. Jets

The Houston Texans are looking for a quarterback, but Cecil Shorts III was good enough for one pass on Sunday.

Playing a tough New York Jets defense, Houston found an offensive boost with a perfectly executed double pass.

Midway through the third quarter, the score was even at 10. Quarterback T.J. Yates threw a backwards screen to Shorts, who launched a 21-yard touchdown to an uncovered Alfred Blue.

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie followed tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz down the middle of the field, which opened up the vacant space into which Blue ventured.

It was the second passing touchdown of Shorts’ career. As a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, Shorts threw a 23-yard score against the Texans. He’s also completed 3-of-3 passes in his career.

The Texans will continue their search for a new quarterback, but at least they have Shorts’ throwing skills in their back pocket.
