The hits keep coming for the quarterback position at Baylor.

Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports reported Jarrett Stidham, who took over for an injured Seth Russell, is out for the rest of the regular season.

Stidham started three games for the Bears but was unable to finish last Saturday’s victory over Oklahoma State. Third-stringer Chris Johnson took over, scored three touchdowns and guided Baylor to a 45-35 win.

On Monday, ESPN’s Max Olson noted head coach Art Briles said he believed Stidham is dealing with fibula, hand and back injuries. That’s quite the list of ailments for the true freshman.

The move is probably a precautionary measure, Johnson proved to be a capable replacement when Baylor takes on rival TCU followed by Texas.

Most importantly, though, the door is open for Stidham to return for a bowl game or potentially two contests in the College Football Playoff if Johnson leads the seventh-ranked Bears to two wins.

Stidham has completed 68.8 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions in 109 attempts. He’s added 70 yards and two scores on the ground.
